Rohnert Park is the central city in Sonoma County. Founded in 1962 it is one of the first planned communities in the United States and has been designed for family living with the added benefit of a strong business community. It has more public and private recreational facilities per capita than any other Northbay city. It has two performing arts centers and Sonoma State University. Major retailers such as Home Depot, Target, Raley’s and Safeway are anchors for major shopping centers.
